
Riverdragons Salute Playoff Berth With "NASCAR Night" Ticket Special This Friday

COLUMBUS, Ga., March 15 â With a pair of victories this past weekend at Fayetteville, the Columbus Riverdragons have clinched a berth in the 2005 NBDL Playoffs. In recognition of the achievement, all fans wearing NASCAR gear to Friday night's home game versus the Huntsville Flight will receive 50 percent off a $14 ticket at the Columbus Civic Center box office prior to the game. Tip-off is 7:00 p.m..
"We are thrilled to be back in the playoffs and we want to show our appreciation to the fans who have supported the Dragons over the last four seasons," said Riverdragons team president J. Barry McMullin. "We're on a mission to really pack the Civic Center at our remaining home games leading into the playoffs...and with a promotion of this nature we believe fans will come in droves. So throw on your NASCAR hat, shirt, jacket or whatever else and come on out this Friday."
Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s #8 Budweiser race car will be on display at the Columbus Civic Center as the Dragons host "NASCAR Night" sponsored by Nextel, Knology, SunTrust, and Marathon. Racing fans are invited to have their picture taken with Dale Jr.'s Chevrolet Monte Carlo, and all in attendance will have a chance to win tickets to the Golden Corral 500 at the Atlanta Motor Speedway on March 20. Fans will be given an opportunity to win two tickets to the Nextel Cup Series event by entering the game-night drawing in the south end zone of the Civic Center or by registering their name at the Riverdragons-NASCAR displays at select Marathon service stations prior to the game.
The event will also be highlighted by the Nextel Cup "Remote Control Car Challenge" with the winner receiving a free tank of gas from Marathon.

Columbus (24-13) currently holds the top spot in the NBDL standings by a half-game over the Roanoke Dazzle (24-14) with 11 games remaining in the regular season. The Dragons will look to push their lead over Roanoke to one full game in the rankings tomorrow night against the third-place Asheville Altitude at the Civic Center. Tip-off is 7:00 p.m..
The defending champion Altitude (21-15) are currently two-and-a-half games behind Columbus for first place and two games behind Roanoke for second place in the standings. Joey Meyer's club comes to town on a two-game winning streak, including a 96-93 victory over the Riverdragons in their last meeting on March 6 at the Asheville Civic Center. The game also marks the return of Dragons head coach Jeff Malone, who will rejoin the team after missing six games due to a nagging back injury.
