
Riverdragons sail past Patriots, 103-93

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. â The Columbus Riverdragons came into Fayetteville and broke the Patriots four-game winning streak, 103-93, on Saturday at the Crown Coliseum. The Riverdragons were led by Scott Merritt and Ramel Curry with 17 points a piece.
There were five lead changes and four ties throughout the game. The Patriots took a one-point lead into halftime, 50-49, but the Riverdragons kept the Patriots at a distance after outscoring Fayetteville, 37-26, in the third quarter.
Three other Riverdragons were in double figured. Derrick Zimmerman and Adam Harrington had 11 points a piece. Zimmerman had six assists to go along with his points. Neil Yanke had 10 points.
Fayetteville was led by David Young with 21 points. Jon Smith contributed 18 points and eight rebounds off the bench, along with 14 from Mike King. Tang Hamilton also had 14 points and five rebounds.
Columbus shot 59.2 percent from the field while Fayetteville only shot 48.1 percent. The Riverdragons out-rebounded the Patriots 42-35 and also committed five less turnovers.
The Patriots (13-24) will meet Columbus (24-12) again tomorrow afternoon at 5 p.m. at the Crown Coliseum. For more information, log onto nbdl.com.
