RiverDogs Unleash Alligator, Duck, & Venison Sausages
March 30, 2012 - South Atlantic League (SAL1)
Charleston RiverDogs News Release
CHARLESTON, SC - The Charleston RiverDogs experience is much more than just the baseball action on the field. The RiverDogs recently expanded their Be Your Own Fan campaign for 2012, and the diverse selection of food and beverages at The Joe is why "The Foodie" is so popular among RiverDogs fans.
The RiverDogs are well known for the multiple and tasty concession opportunities, which have in recent years drawn Food Network star Rachel Ray and Man vs. Food luminary Adam Richman to Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park to sample the variety of delicacies. Whether it's at the Doghouse, Dogworld, Joe's Grill or the Pie House, fans can always find something to satisfy their every craving.
And this year, another unique item - make it three new items - is being added to the fan-favorite hot dog menu, and is the culmination of meticulous work in the RiverDogs' top-secret test kitchen and thorough scouring of multiple state fairs and circuses for new ideas.
John Schumacher, the food guru for the RiverDogs' ownership ensemble, The Goldklang Group, credits the club's crack concessionaires and said the new sausages are "sure to satisfy your daily sausage urge."
The RiverDogs will introduce three new sausages at the Sausage World concession stand beginning this season, and features a duck sausage with plum sauce. There is also a venison sausage served with a citrus chipotle barbeque sauce - called the Byrdog - that is being introduced, as will an alligator sausage served with a remoulade.
In addition, the RiverDogs will introduce the Lowcountry's first Wine Garden that will be located in Margaritaville, adjacent to the Firefly Tiki Bar.
"We already have a successful 'Beer Garden,'" said Schumacher, "so we thought that with the influx of wine consumers in the area that we'd expand to encompass a 'Wine Garden.'"
Returning is the RiverDogs' signature hot dog stand, appropriately called "Dog World" and located under the first base seating area, where numerous hot dog toppings await your special combination. The Nacho House, located on the main concourse, will also return in 2012.
Opening day is set for April 5 - a Thirsty Thursday - when the Rome Braves visit Riley Park for the beginning of a seven-game homestand that also features the Augusta GreenJackets. The "Opening Night" game is one of several on the RiverDogs' calendar that sells out annually, so fans are encouraged to get their tickets early. In order to do so, please contact the Box Office at 843/577-DOGS (3647) or order them online at www.riverdogs.com.
