TONIGHT'S MATCHUP: The second of five meetings with the Wings and the second of two here. Kalamazoo won here last night. The ‘Dogs are 2-2 vs. Western Conference opponents with all four games at home. Richmond is in third place in the Eastern Conference two points behind Flint, five points behind Columbus and two points ahead of Elmira. The Wings are fourth in the Western Conference, two points behind Quad City with a game in hand. Kalamazoo is 2-4-1 vs. Eastern Conference opponents.

LAST ACTION: The RiverDogs lost here 5-2 last night to the Wings. All seven goals in the game came on the power play. The Wings scored three times in less than 3:30 in the first period to blow the game open. Jeff Turner and Andrew Luciuk scored two goals each. Luciuk added an assist. The Wings were 5-10 on the power play. Kalamazoo out-shot Richmond 39-25. The Wings had three goals waived off. The two clubs combined for 120 penalty minutes.

'DOG BITES: Richmond is winless in their last six games (0-5-1). They have lost three straight games in regulation, the longest streak of the season. Tonight is game five of a 10 game homestand. The ‘Dogs are 0-3-1 thus far. By the end of the homestand the ‘Dogs will have played 15 of 17 games at home. Richmond still has the best road record in the Eastern Conference. Richmond has scored four power play goals in their last two games. The ‘Dogs lead the UHL in PIM. J.J. Wrobel is tied for 18th in the league in points. Jeff Ewasko is fourth in penalty minutes. 10 of the ‘Dogs 12 losses have been by three or more goals. The ‘Dogs have allowed nine first period goals in the last two games.

WINGS NOTES: Kalamazoo is unbeaten in regulation in their last four games. The Wings have won three straight on the road. Marty Flichel and Andrew Luciuk have points in six straight games. This is the second of a three game road trip. Chad Alban is third in the UHL in goals against average. The Wings are second in the league in penalty killing. They lead the UHL in goals against average, shots on goal, and fewest shots allowed. They are out-shooting opponents by an average of more than six per game.

AROUND THE UHL: There were five other games last night: Quad City beat Adirondack 7-4, Muskegon edged Columbus 5-4, Ft. Wayne drilled Elmira 5-1, Flint beat Missouri 5-2, and Port Huron edged Rockford 3-2 in a shootout. There are five other games in the league tonight: Quad City at Adirondack, Port Huron at Columbus, Elmira at Flint, Missouri at Ft. Wayne, and Rockford at Missouri.

NEXT UP: The ‘Dogs are home for four games next week. The ‘Dogs host Elmira Tuesday and Wednesday at 7:05 and battle Flint Friday and Saturday at 7:35. The RiverDogs will open the upper bowl next Saturday in a effort to set a new UHL single game attendance record. Upper bowl seats will be $7.50, including the Coliseum user fee and all fans will receive a free t-shirt.
