
RiverDogs Bounce Back after Win Streak Ends

Richmond RiverDogs News Release
The Richmond RiverDogs eight game season opening winning streak came to an end last week, but Richmond avoided back to back losses with a dramatic shootout win Saturday. The 9-1 RiverDogs play host to Flint twice this week. Richmond is now second in the Eastern Conference with 18 points, one behind Columbus which has played two more games.

Wednesday, November 19 vs. Flint 7:05 PM
GAME NOTES: The second of eight meetings and the first of four in Richmond. âDogs beat the Generals 4-3 in a shootout at Flint 11/7. Jeremy Wray had a goal in regulation and the game-winner in the shootout. Richard Pitirri had two assists. Jim Duhart and a goal and assist. He forced the shootout with a goal with 1.6 seconds left. âDogs out-shot the Generals 36-26.
Friday, November 21 vs. Flint 7:35 PM
GAME NOTES: The third of eight meetings and the second of four in Richmond. The two clubs meet four times in November and three times in 10 days. Flint begins the week with a 4-4-2 record.

Thursday, November 13 @ Elmira WIN 3-2 (SO)
GAME NOTES: The âDogs finished a four game road trip with their eighth straight win. Richmond fell behind 1-0 in the second period but quickly rallied on goals by Kevin St. Jacques and J.J. Wrobel. Elmira tied the game in the third period while out-shooting Richmond 15-7. In the shootout Maxime Gingras stopped all five Elmira shooters and Jeremy Wray scored to give Richmond the win. Elmira had five power plays to Richmond's one.
Friday, November 14 vs. Adirondack LOSS 6-1
GAME NOTES: The âDogs suffered their first loss of the season. The IceHawks scored two goals 61 seconds apart early in the first period and led by two the rest of the night. James Desmarais and Hugo Belanger each had two goals and an assist. Kevin St. Jacques scored the âDogs goal. Richmond fired a UHL high 46 shots on goal, including 20 in the first period.
Saturday, November 15 vs. Adirondack WIN 6-5 (SO)
GAME NOTES: The âDogs bounced back for a wild shootout win. The âDogs scored four straight goals after falling behind 1-0. The IceHawks then scored four straight to grab a 5-4 third period lead. Luch Nasato scored with :16 to play to force the shootout. Jay Murphy scored the game-winner in the shootout.
DOG BITES: Richmond leads the UHL in goals and is second in penalty minutes. The RiverDogs six game road winning streak is the longest in the UHL. Jay Murphy and Kevin St. Jacques are tied for sixth in the league in scoring. J.J. Wrobel is 13th in points. St. Jacques is tied for second in assists. Dave Shields is tied for the league lead with two shorthanded goals. Murphy is tied for the league in plus/minus with a plus-eight. St. Jacques is fourth at plus-seven. Maxime Gingras is tied for the league lead in goaltender wins with seven. Jeremy Wray is tied for the UHL lead in goals by a rookie with five. He is fifth in rookie penalty minutes. The 'Dogs are now 3-0 in shootouts. Three of Richmond's last five wins have gone to shootouts. The RiverDogs are 5-0 in one goal games. Kevin St. Jacques has points in three straight games. The 'Dogs 46 shots on goal Friday set a UHL season high equaled by Kalamazoo Sunday. Richmond has set or equaled league season highs in goals (eight vs. Muskegon), points (23 vs. Muskegon), shots on goal (46 vs. Adirondack), major penalties (eight vs. Muskegon), and penalty minutes (126 vs. Muskegon). The 'Dogs have also combined for most total goals in a game (13 vs. Muskegon), and penalty minutes by both teams (237 vs. Muskegon). Due to injuries, Richmond has yet to play a game with a full bench. Two 'Dogs made their debuts over the weekend. R.J. Gates joined the club Thursday. David Dartsch joined the lineup Saturday. Luch Nasato scored his first goal of the season with :16 left on Saturday to force the shootout. Prior to Friday's first loss of the season to Adirondack, the 'Dogs were behind in games only four times in eight games for a total of 13:57. Friday's game also marked the firs time that the 'Dogs trailed by more than one goal. The 'Dogs were ranked the number one team in all of AA hockey (70 teams in five leagues) by Just Hockey magazine. The UHL had five of the top 20 clubs. Richmond had scored at least three goals in every game prior to the loss on Friday. Richmond has three players on Injured Reserve: Mark Cody (21 Day-IR), Olivier Fillion (14 Day-IR), and Paul Johnson (7 Day-IR).
THIS WEEK AT THE COLISEUM: The âDogs vs. Flint game on Wednesday is a Fas mart Will Win Wednesday. When the âDogs beat the Generals all fans in attendance will receive a voucher for a free ticket for the December 17 game vs. Ft. Wayne. Friday the RiverDogs Wives and 102 The X team up for a canned food drive to benefit the Central Virginia Food Bank. Fans who bring three canned food items for donation will receive $3.00 off adult admission. It is also a Richmond Times Dispatch Press Pass Night.
