RiverCity Beats Sioux City Bandits 41-27

SIOUX CITY, IOWA- The RiverCity Rage Professional Indoor Football Team won for the third consecutive time and clinched a home playoff game with a 41-27 victory on the road. RiverCity improved to 6-7 on the season while Sioux City fell to 4-9. With the win, the Rage has secured a first round home playoff game on June 21st at the Family Arena in St. Charles.

RiverCity jumped out to a 31-20 halftime lead and never looked back. In exciting fashion, the Rage scored two touchdowns in the last 15 seconds of the first half. The first came on a one-yard plunge by quarterback Ryan Maiuri, who rushed for two scores in the game to bring his season total to four. After a turnover on the ensuing kickoff, Maiuri then hit Hurtis Chinn for a 26-yard strike and an eleven point advantage.

The Rage special teams were a key factor in the game as Brandon Gregory returned a missed field goal 53-yards for his first touchdown of the year. Hurtis Chinn had 86 yards returning kickoffs and kicker Mike Matheny hit field goals of 26-yards and 36-yards in addition to all of his extra points.

The Rage forced three turnovers in the football game and held an opponent to under 30 points for the third straight game. Offensively the Rage were led by David Daniels rushed for 60 yards and a touchdown, adding 24 yards receiving on three receptions.

The Rage returns home for their final regular season game on Saturday, June 14 as they welcome the Billings Outlaws to the Family Arena. Kickoff is set for 7:00 with gates opening at 6:00. This will be the first meeting of the season between the Rage and the Outlaws.
