RiverCatz prepare for trip to Texas, sign Shawnson Johnson
December 20, 2006 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Texas Tycoons News Release
Pine Bluff, AR - The Arkansas RiverCatz fresh off a humbling defeat at the hands of their arch-rival Arkansas Aeros, currently the #1 rated team in the ABA power rankings, prepare for their road trip through Texas with road games at Houston Wednesday, December 20th and at Waco Friday, December 22nd and at the Texas Tycoons on Saturday, December 23rd.
The RiverCatz Head Coach Ed Corporal believes that with new addition Shawnson Johnson (6'9''-F/C-80, agency: Ashe Sports, college: N.Texas), formerly with the Tulsa 66'ers of the NBA D-League, who scored 18 points and collected 10 rebounds in the last game against the Aeros, could be a big part of their success for the coming road trip.
Corporal was quoted as saying "I believe we could go 3-0 on this road trip" but continued stating "that at a minimum we should go 2-1".
The inside-outside combination of Johnson and Kareem Reid should make for an interesting match-up with the 11-4 Tycoons who are currently rated #5 in the recently released ABA power rankings.
Tickets are available for Saturday's game at the Desoto Town Center in Desoto, Texas one hour before the 7pm tip-off or by calling the box office at 214-749-0134 or online at www.txtycoons.com
