Cedar Rapids, IA (March 15, 2004) The Cedar Rapids River Raiders announce today the signing of Des Moines native Scott Casber as the Official, PA Announcer for the 2004 Inaugural Season.
Casber began his career in broadcasting alongside veteran radio and television talent Bill Riley. He attended Brown Institute in Minneapolis, MN and then transferred to the University of Iowa. During his time at Iowa, he played Herky, the mascot for the Hawkeyes and was roommate to one of the Best Damn Sports Show Period hosts, Tom Arnold. Casber continued his college career at Drake University in Des Moines, IA majoring in Public Relations and Advertising.
Currently Casber hosts "Takedown Wrestling Radio" and "Pitpass: Moto Racing Weekly" on KXNO (Des Moines), announces for the Des Moines Menace, and the Des Moines Municipal Band Summer concert series. While acting in films he also provides the voice for television, radio commercials and training films, Casber most recently announced the matches for the Big 12 Wrestling Championships in Ames at Iowa State University and is the regular season announcer for Iowa State Wrestling home meets.
Casber has also announced for the Des Moines Dragons, the Iowa Cubs, and the Des Moines Buccaneers.
The River Raiders will start its inaugural 30 game regular season (15 home games) on Friday April 16, 2004 at 7:15 vs. the Oklahoma Storm at the U.S. Cellular Center in downtown Cedar Rapids.
