River Raiders Pick Up Some Color for Radio Broadcast

CEDAR RAPIDS, IA (October 16, 2003) â The Cedar Rapids River Raiders announce today that they have signed Mark Gannon (Iowa '83) to provide the color commentary for the Cedar Rapids River Raiders broadcasts on the radio1360AM "The Fan" / KXIC 800 AM.
"We are very pleased to have Mark join our River Raiders broadcasting staff," River Raiders' President and CEO Barry S. Smith said. "Mark brings experience and vast knowledge of basketball to the broadcast team. Fans will be able to feel close to the action with every tick of the clock with Mark and Mark giving the play by play for every home game."
Gannon is one of Iowa's basketball standouts from the University of Iowa who played the forward position at 6'7". In his four years on the team he played 107 games, scored 672 points and 463 rebounds over his career. In 1983, Gannon was drafted in the 8th round by the San Diego Clippers of the NBA (166th pick overall).
"I look forward to getting the chance to work with Mark Gannon in this type of environment. I remember having the opportunity to watch him while he played at the University of Iowa," said Mark Allen. "I feel that this is a great opportunity to work with an outstanding person who has a great knowledge of the game of basketball."

The River Raiders will start its inaugural 30 game regular season in April of 2004 at the US Cellular Center in downtown Cedar Rapids.
