River Raiders Name Assistant General Manager

Cedar Rapids, IA (September 2, 2003) Today, the Cedar Rapids River Raiders, a member of the United States Basketball Association (USBL), announced Sean McLaughlin as the team's new Assistant General Manager. McLaughlin officially accepted the position Monday and will begin duties with the River Raiders immediately.

"Sean has tremendous experience in minor league basketball," said General manger Grant Guyer. "He will do an outstanding job in handling day to day operations as well as other assigned duties including our game operations."

McLaughlin joins the River Raiders staff after working as the Director of Operations for the Gary Steelheads team of the fifty-eight year old Continental Basketball Association (CBA). His primary duties were working with half-time entertainment as well as day-to-day operations and marketing.

Sean is originally from Lincoln, Nebraska and received his B.S. in Sports Marketing with emphasis in Marketing from Peru State College in Peru, Nebraska in 1998. He started in 1997 as an intern for the Des Moines Dragons of the IBA and continued to work there through 2001 learning many different facets of a basketball organization. In that time the Dragons posted four winning seasons winning the IBA President's Cup, setting numerous attendance records and winning the IBA Organization of the Year award three consecutive years. Sean also held the positions of Director of Operations as well as Executive Director of the ten-team league in 2001 (IBA). He also worked for the Des Moines Menace soccer club and the Iowa Sports Connection sports newspaper.

The River Raiders will start its inaugural 30 game regular season in April of 2004 at the US Cellular Center in downtown Cedar Rapids.
