Cedar Rapids River Kings News Release

CEDAR RAPIDS, IOWA - The Cedar Rapids River Kings have announced the re-signing of receiver Marquel Wade to their 2019 IFL roster.

In a down season last year for Cedar Rapids, one bright spot was wide receiver Marquel Wade. The 5'11, 170-pound Wade led the Indoor Football League in receptions (64) and average receiving yards per game (65.9). He was second in total yards (791) and fourth in both yards per catch (12.4) and touchdowns (16).

Wade did all this while only playing in just 12 games last season. He was also sixth in total scoring with 118 points.

Wade spent time with fellow IFL member Nebraska in 2016. During his rookie season there he racked up 309 receiving yards and four touchdowns, helping them earn a Wild Card win and a Conference Championship appearance. He spent the 2017 season with the Jacksonville Sharks of the National Arena League.

Prior to his professional career, Wade attended the University of Arkansas where he played one season with the Razorbacks in 2011. As a freshman, he played in ten games where he caught eight receptions for 62 yards. Wade also excelled on special teams, returning 12 punts for 99 yards and 14 kicks for 358 yards and one touchdown. That year, he made the All-SEC Freshman team on special teams.
