CEDAR RAPIDS, IOWA - The Cedar Rapids River Kings have signed defensive back Adrian James to their 2019 IFL roster.

James (DB, 6-0, 200, Texas-El Paso) joins the River Kings for his third season as a member of the Indoor Football League. Adrian spent the 2017 spring season in camp with the CFL's B.C. Lions before going on to play in nine games with the Ottawa RedBlacks where he recorded 20 total tackles.

He spent his first two IFL seasons with the Spokane Empire, joining the team in May of 2016, where he played in six games as a part of the team's playoff run and United Bowl appearance against the Sioux Falls Storm. Adrian recorded 9.5 total tackles and three interceptions on the year. He returned to Spokane in 2017 and played in six games with 9.5 total tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, and three pass break-ups before going on to the CFL.

Prior to joining Spokane for his rookie IFL season, Adrian worked out for the NFL's Dallas Cowboys following his collegiate career at the University of Texas-El Paso. As a Miner, he saw action in 45 contests and recorded 78 total tackles (43 solos). During his senior season, he started all 12 games and recorded 37 tackles (20 solos), one interception, a quarterback hurry, a forced fumble and was second on the team in pass breakups (6).

He played his prep career at Skyline High School in Dallas, Texas where he earned All-District 9-5A honors and helped his team to a 12-1 season and berth in the state title game.
