CEDAR RAPIDS, IOWA - The Cedar Rapids River Kings have signed defensive back La'Darius Newbold to their 2019 IFL roster.
Newbold (6-1, 200, Illinois State) joins the River Kings for his rookie season as a member of the Indoor Football League after completing his final two collegiate seasons at Illinois State University. As a Redbird, Newbold saw action in 24 games (two starts as a senior) and finished with 31 total tackles (25 solos), three interceptions, and ten pass breakups.
Prior to ISU, Newbold started his collegiate career at Texas Tech University where he redshirted and then played two seasons. La'Darius is originally from Dallas, Texas and played his prep career at Lancaster High School where he was ranked a consensus three-star prospect by Rivals, Scout, and ESPN.com and a member of the Rivals Texas Postseasons Top 100.
