River Drivers Win 7 to 5 Over Bulldogs

(Berlin, New Hampshire) Last night these two teams squared off and required overtime to decide the game. Brewster's MJ Graham scored his third goal of the night on and the game winning goal off an assist from Ian DeLong at 3:49 mark of the extra period. Today's match up would be settled in regulation with the home team picking up the 7 to 5 victory.

Both teams came out with fire in their eyes and a little extra in them. The River Drivers would put up three goals in the period before the Bulldogs found the back of the net for their first. Scoring in the period for the River Drivers were Matias Simontaival at 8:23 off assists from David Brancik and Andre Niec; Andre Niec unassisted at 10:42; and Stathis Soumelidis at 11:40 off assists from Matias Simontaival and Curtis Warren. Scoring Brewster's goal was Ryan Dolence at 16:47 from an assist from Cory Giroux.

During the second period both teams traded shots on goal, Berlin put 15 on net and Brewster 20. Brewster found the back of the net at 8:11 into the period when Mike Zannella scored from assist from Marcus Mitchell. The River Drivers added their fourth of the night when Steven Gallo scored at 9:01 on assists from Bryan Haude and Jiri Pestuka.  Bulldogs notched their third of the game when John Scully scored unassisted at 10:21. River Drivers Donald Olivieri would add a power play goal off assists from Jiri Pestuke and Brantley Sherwood at 17:41 to give the home team a 5 to 3 lead at the end of the second period.

The final period would see both teams adding two more goals, Martias Simontaival would net his second of the night off assists from David Brancik and Curtis Warren at 5:38 into the period. Brewster's Marcus Mitchell would net the next two goals scoring twice on the power play. First goal for Mitchell came at 14:36 off an assist from Nicolai Oklolbistyn. Mitchell would net his second at 16:08 on assists from Mike Zannella and Sean Maktaak. River Drivers Curtis Warren would add an empty net goal at 18:41 on assists from David Brancik and Matias Simontaival to give the home team their seventh goal of the night and seal the win.

River Drivers' goaltender Bryan Haude faced 41 shots and registered 36 saves in the win. Bulldogs' goaltender Jeromy Semtner faced 33 shots and registered 27 saves in the loss.

The River Drivers next home game is scheduled for Tuesday, December 29th against the Port Huron Prowlers starting at 7:00pm (EST).
