Nashville Kats News Release

Nasvhille, TN (April 28, 2005) – A little less than a month after rookie quarterback Scott Rislov was signed by the Nashville Kats, he joins the active roster while fellow rookie quarterback Bill Whittemore was placed on the practice squad, where Rislov had been the last four weeks. Whittemore had been active for the last four games, but had not seen any action.

Rislov (6-1, 219) was one of the nationÂ’s most accurate passers as quarterback at San Jose State, where he became the only player in school history to throw for 3,000 yards in consecutive seasons. He started 24 consecutive games for the Spartans in his two-years at SJSU and threw for twice as many touchdowns (40) as interceptions (19). Rislov was the MVP of the 2003 Blue-Gray All-Star Classic, and he became the first player at San Jose State in a generation to hold a 4.0 grade point average for three consecutive semesters. He was in camp with the Cincinnati Bengals last season, and will be active for his first AFL game against the San Jose SaberCats on Friday.

Whittemore, (6-0, 205) who hails from nearby Brentwood, Tenn., and was an honorable mention All-Big 12 QB at Kansas, was on the active roster for the KatsÂ’s game against Colorado on March 12 in addition to the last four games.

Quarterback Leon Murray will start for the Kats on Friday as they seek to push their unbeaten streak to five. The Kats take on the San Jose SaberCats on Friday at 9:30 p.m. CT. The game will be televised live on Fox Sports Net South.
