New England Riptide News Release

Lowell, MA- June 13, The New England Riptide and the Venezuelan Olympic team met for the second time in Lowell tonight. Jocelyn Forest took the circle tonight in search of her second win and got it when Jackie Pasquerella hit a two-out bases loaded single in the bottom of the seventh to break a scoreless tie and give the Riptide a 1-0 victory, their second walk-off win in as many nights.

Forest was as close to perfect as possible, retiring opposing batters in order in six of seven innings. Venezuela managed two scratched singles in the fifth, one runner being erased trying to steal. Forest walked none and struck out ten.

Meanwhile the Riptide were not faring much better off of Venezuela starter Marianella Castellano. Pasquerella got three hits on the night, the first two leading off. But the Riptide could not push in a run until the seventh. Lyndsey Angus was hit by a pitch and Gina Carbonatto placed down a perfect bunt and beat it out. After KJ Kelley sacrificed the runners a base each and Alex Sutton was walked intentionally, Pasquerella was set up for her game winner.

The teams continue the series on Saturday at 7:05 and finish the series on Sunday at 5:05. All games are at Martin Softball Field.
