Riptide Re-Assigned All-af2 Selection

SAN DIEGO - The San Diego Riptide were re-assigned OL/DL Brad Greetis and FB/LB Matt Guardia earlier today. Greetis was selected to the All-af2 National Conference Second Team after recording 17.5 tackles and two sacks during the 2004 season. He is the fourth player on the roster that has received all-af2 honors during their respective careers in the league. Guardia is returning for his second season with the âTide.
Greetis enters his fourth season with the âTide and in the league. Over the course of his career, he has caught 23 passes for 333 yards and five scores. On defense, he has racked up 55 tackles, including six and a half sacks, four quarterback hurries, and four pass deflections. His size and strength also allowed him to block four kicks and force two fumbles. Last season against the Green Bay Blizzard, his eight yard sack forced a fumble that was recovered for a touchdown.
Greetis joins Noah Drucker, James Parham, Chris Enneking, Chris Lawrence, and Rico Ochoa on the Riptide front lines. With outstanding protection, the Riptide starting quarterback will have plenty of time to get the job done and next season's opponents will only hope to have enough time to get rid of the ball.
Guardia played in 11 games last season, racking up 103 rushing yards and punching the ball into the endzone eight times. In addition to being an effective running back in a pass oriented sport, he recorded two sacks for a total 17 yards lost along with 16 tackles. The University of San Diego grad was named to the Pioneer League All-Conference team in 2002 as a tight end.
Greetis and Guardia are two key reassignments to the Riptide. This year's roster features plenty of familiar faces the addition of key rookie and veteran acquisitions, the âTide will be one of the most competitive in the league.
