New England Riptide News Release
Allentown, Pa - The New England Riptide and Philadelphia Force met for the fourth and final time tonight, the Riptide looking to take three games, the Force looking to split the series. For the Riptide it would be Erica Beach in the circle and for the Force it would be Megan Gibson making her professional debut just four days after pitching in the College World Series.
The Force got on the board first to take a 1-0 lead in the second when Jenna Hall hit a home run to right field. Eileen Canney came in to relieve Beach in the fourth and gave up four hits, all singles and the Force lead was 3-0. That was all the Force needed as Gibson was brilliant in her debut allowing only three hits, singles by Shanel Scott, Lisa Iancin and KJ Kelley, walking one and striking out nine.
The Riptide finish the road series at 3-5 and finally open their season in Lowell on June 12th at Martin Softball Field. They will be playing a four game series against the Venezuelan Olympic team.
