New England Riptide News Release

Sterling, Va. - The New England Riptide fell behind the Washington Glory 2-0 in the first inning, but scored single runs in the third and seventh to tie it up, only to lose it in the bottom of the eighth on a three run home run by Sara Larquier. The final was 5-2 Glory.

Nicole Barber got things going in the first with a single when Amber Jackson barely cleared the left field fence to give the Glory the lead. The Riptide got one back in the third, unearned. Gina Carbonatto led off by bunting her way on and Jess Merchant reached on an error by Larquier. An error by Jackson later allowed Carbonatto to score to bring the Riptide within one. They tied it in the top of the seventh with a solo home run by Lisa Iancin.

The Riptide lost it in the eighth on Larquier's second home run of the season. Prior to the home run Jessica Moore was hit by a pitch and Oli Keohohou drew a walk. The home run came with two out.

Both pitchers pitched complete games, Jocelyn Forest taking the loss for the Riptide, her first of the year, while Sarah Pauly won the game for the Glory, her second. Besides Iancin, hitting star for the Riptide was Lyndsey Angus who went two for three with a walk.

The Riptide and Glory play the final game of the series tomorrow night in Sterling at 7:05.
