Shanna Diller slugged a two-run homer in her first professional plate appearance Saturday night to bring the game to within one run, but it was not enough to lift the Thunder to their second come-from-behind win in three days against the Chicago Bandits.
The Bandits' offense got to it early, plating three runs in the top of the first off of rookie pitcher Allison Kime. Rockford came back in the bottom half to bring the score to 3-2 when Diller homered Audrey Rendon in.
Last night's winning pitcher Megan Brown came in to pitch the sixth and seventh and gave up just one run on a pickoff attempt to second which turned into a rundown that allowed Jaime Clark to score from third.
With the Thunder up 2-1 in the series, the two teams will play one more time Sunday afternoon at 3:05 pm at SportsCore One in Rockford. The box office opens at 1:30 and gates open at 2:00 pm. Tickets start at just $5.
The Thunder also host the Chinese national team Monday in an exhibition match at 6:35 pm. Tickets are available at the Thunder box office starting at just $3 each.
