Riptide Fall to Chicago, 3-0

June 24, 2007 - National Pro Fastpitch (NPF)
New England Riptide News Release

Lowell, MA- The New England Riptide hosted the Chicago Bandits for the fourth and final game of the series tonight and the Bandits managed to even the series when Jaime Clarke broke open a scoreless game with two outs in the top of the seventh. Starting pitchers were Jocelyn Forest and the Riptide and Gina Oakes for the Bandits.

Both pitchers started the first game of the series and had sub par performances. That was not the case today as Oakes allowed only three hits and Forest five. Forest actually could have been out of the inning it were not for her own throwing error to first on a come backer by Oakes which should have ended the inning. Clarke took Forest's first pitch for a strike and hit the next one over the 235 mark of the centerfield fence.

Oakes was not overpowering and in fact only struck out one batter all night but had the hitters off balance. Lyndsey Angus, Carri Martin and KJ Kelley had the Riptide's only hits of the night, all singles.

The Riptide now stand at 9-6 . They now have two days to prepare for a home and away series with the Philadelphia Force. The first four games will be at Martin Softball Field with games starting on Wednesday, June 27th and continuing the 28th, 29th and 30th.
