New England Riptide News Release

Lowell, Ma - June 20 - The Philadelphia Force continued their winning ways tonight with a 5-3 win over the Riptide in a rain delayed game that took almost four hours to complete. Margo Pruis (3-0) won the game for the Force while Eileen Canney (4-4) took the loss for the Riptide, getting little help from her defense.

The Riptide took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first courtesy of three walks given up by Pruis and a single by Lisa Modglin. The Force came back with four in the third. Emily Friedman led off with a double and Clare Burnum walked. Sharonda McDonald singled to left to load the bases and Kellie Wilkerson came through for the third time in three games driving in two with a single. Additional singles by Chelsea Spencer and Trena Peel, coupled with an error completed the scoring. The Riptide answered with one of their own in the third on a lead off single by Lisa Iancin and a double by Carmen Paez.

The score remained 4-2 until the seventh with each team adding a run. The Riptide actually got the winning run to the plate but were unable to do anything more.

The two teams complete the four game series on Saturday. Former US Olympic Gold Medallist and Riptide and UMass star Danielle Henderson will be honored in a pre-game ceremony at Martin Softball Field at 7:05.
