New England Riptide News Release
Allentown, PA- For the second time tonight the New England Riptide lost to the Philadelphia Force, this time by a score of 1-0. For the second time in less than a week the Riptide lost to Force started, Margo Pruis, both time mustering only three hits. Gina Carbonatto had two hits and Lisa Iancin the other as the Riptide loaded the bases with one out in the fourth but were unable to score after that. Pruis is now 3-0 for the Force. Eileen Canney was the tough luck loser for the Riptide as she pitched well enough to win almost any game. Canney (3-2) gave up six hits, all singles, struck out nine and did not allow a walk.
The Force got two of the singles in the first, one by Sharonda McDonald on a slow infield roller. McDonald stole second and later scored on Jenna Hall's single. That was all the scoring for the entire game as the Riptide fall to 12-10 and the Force improve to 9-9. The two teams play Saturday night and again on Sunday afternoon to complete the four game series.
