Nashville SC News Release

TAMPA - After a two goal performance in Nashville SC's 3-0 win over Ottawa Fury FC on Saturday, forward Daniel Ríos was named to the USL Championship Team of the Week on Tuesday afternoon. Ríos was also the runner-up for the league's Player of the Week honor, garnering 21 percent of the media panel vote.

The 24-year-old Mexican forward scored his third and fourth goals of the season in the dominant victory, as he is tied for 3rd in the Championship in goals scored in 2019. Outside of the goals, Ríos was a one-man force up top for Nashville. He completed 16 of his 23 passes, and won 10 of 17 duels in the victory.

Ríos was the first player signed by Nashville SC to a Major League Soccer contract this offseason, following a 20-goal season for North Carolina FC in the USL Championship last year. Already on pace to eclipse that mark in 2019, Ríos has scored a goal every 84.3 minutes played, putting him in the top-10 in min/goal amongst multi-goal scorers.

With four goals in four matches, and an upcoming home match against Memphis 901 FC on Saturday, Ríos will have another chance to add to his goal total. Memphis has allowed six goals in five matches and will play again on Wednesday night before traveling to Nashville for Saturday's match.

Ríos is the third Nashville SC player named to a Team of the Week this season, joining midfielder Matt LaGrassa (Week 1 bench) and Ken Tribbett (Week 3) as previous Team of the Week honorees.
