EDINBURG, Texas - Rio Grande Valley F.C (7-11-4) hosted Hartford Athletic (4-12-5) at H-E-B Park in a midweek matchup. The scoreless match saw RGV FC put up a season high of 32 shots but were unable to break the deadlock in a tightly contested match.
Rio Grande had their first danger approach at the 7th minute as Frank Lopez snuck into the 6-yard box and shot at goal where Yannik Oettl made the save with his feet to send the ball to corner kick, 0-0.
Ricky Ruiz missed out on a clear opportunity in front of goal at the 40th minute as he was unable to connect well on a bouncing ball, sending it over the goal on the shot, 0-0.
Just as the half closed out, Juan David Cabezas took a shot at goal and missed just narrowly over the crossbar, 0-0.
Jonathan Ricketts attempted an acrobatic shot at the 73rd minute but was denied as Hartford cleared the ball to corner, 0-0.
In the closing instances of the match, Emilio Ycaza sent a shot to the bottom right of the goal but was easily denied by Oettl to keep the match scoreless at the 93rd minute, 0-0.
RGV closed the match out on a season high 32 shots, eight landing on target but were unable to crack the net as they earned a single point at home on the night.
