Milwaukee Admirals News Release
Milwaukee, WI-The wait for Admirals fans is almost over. Pekka Rinne, the team's All-Star goaltender who has been sidelined for the first half of the season with a separated shoulder, is scheduled to make his first start of the season tomorrow night when the Admirals take on the Rochester Americans at 7:00 pm at the Bradley Center.
The Kempele, Finland native injured the shoulder in the off-season and it was decided in the fall to have surgery on it, rather than taking the chance of causing more harm by re-injuring it. As a rookie last season Rinne was selected to start in net for the PlanetUSA squad in the AHL All-Star game and posted a 30-18-2 record with a 2.82 goals against average and a .904 save percentage during the regular season.
Rinne was particularly sharp in the playoffs, helping the Admirals reach their second Calder Cup Finals in three years. He won the first nine games he started in the post-season and compiled a 10-4 record with a 2.86 GAA and a .905 save percentage. The 6-5, 207-lb, backstop also collected his first NHL win when he stopped 35 shots in a 5-3 win over the Chicago Blackhawks on December 15.
