Arkansas RimRockers News Release

LITTLE ROCK, AR (April 30, 2004) – The name of Arkansas' first professional basketball team, the Arkansas RimRockers, was unveiled today at the team's first official press conference.

Larry Crain, Sr., owner and founder of the Arkansas expansion team of the American Basketball Association (ABA), introduced the Arkansas RimRockers' president and general manager, Otis Birdsong, and announced that the team's home games will be played at Alltel Arena in North Little Rock.

"It's a privilege to be able to bring a professional sports team of this caliber to Arkansas," Crain said. "It's a new and exciting brand of professional basketball that we feel Arkansas is ready for. And we plan on making it an experience they'll enjoy and appreciate. As we all know, Arkansas sports fans are not like any other sports fan. They're loyal and they're enthusiastic. So, we're looking forward to bringing them a lot of excitement and entertainment."

The Arkansas team is one of 17 ABA expansion teams included in the 2004-2005 ABA season. Larry Crain, founder of the team, was awarded ownership in February 2004. He is also the owner of Crain Automotive Team and Crain Media Group in central Arkansas.

The ABA currently has teams in Fresno and Long Beach, CA; Las Vegas, NV; Kansas City, MO; Trenton, NJ; Philadelphia, PA; Juarez and Tijuana, Mexico; Pensacola, FL; and Hershey, PA.
