NASHVILLE, TENN. - The Nashville expansion team of the American Basketball Association (ABA) today announced the appointment of Daniel Bucher as general manager and director of operations.

Bucher, 24, is leaving a career in information technology to become one of the youngest general managers in professional sports. Team executives say Bucher's experience in contract negotiation and procurement for Fortune 500 companies will allow the team to build an outstanding roster and hit-the-ground running at the 2004/2005 season beginning in November.

As general manager, Bucher will be the architect behind the process to shape Nashville's roster into a winning team. He will also be responsible for the team's day-to-day business.

"Daniel will make an outstanding addition to Nashville's management team. We're thrilled to have his experience and enthusiasm on-board." said Nashville team owner Sally Anthony. "His business savvy and background are the kind of assets we will rely on during the process of launching our inaugural season."

But Bucher's background isn't all business. The Indianapolis, Ind. native played guard during four years of college basketball ¾ first, for Columbus State University in Columbus, Georgia and later for Grace College in Winona Lake, Ind. He is also a former high school McDonald's All American Honorable Mention. Bucher graduated from Grace College with bachelor's degrees in Business Administration, Information Technology and Accounting.

"I'm excited to be given the opportunity to run a professional basketball team," Bucher said. "I look forward to putting a team on the floor that will be entertaining, high-scoring and competitive. Most importantly, we want to build a team that will make the Nashville community proud."

"Nashville should also stay tuned for the unveiling of the team's official name and the location of home court, as well as an exciting announcement regarding the appointment of the team's head coach," Bucher said. "It's going to be a year filled with non-stop action and great basketball."
