RimRockers help fire victims

Arkansas RimRockers News Release

Little Rock (Thursday, December 23, 2004)- The Arkansas RimRockers have partnered with the Conway Senior Citizens Center to help collect canned goods for the victims of the Conway Housing Authority apartment complex. The apartment complex burned on December 20 displacing 56 low-income elderly residents. Many residents have moved temporarily to stay with family while others are living in a nursing home until further accommodations can be made.

"The RimRockers saw a need and wanted to meet it," Emily Wade, community relations director, said. "We feel this is a good way to give back to a community that has been so supportive of us."

The RimRockers will collect canned food items at their game beginning at 1 p.m. on Sunday, December 26. There will be large boxes outside the arena entrance for those willing to make a donation. All donations will be given to the Senior Center for distribution.

"The community involvement has been overwhelming," Deborah Robinson, senior center director, said. "We have had more individuals stop by to give than organizations. It makes you feel like the people of Faulkner County are proud to live here. It shows where their hearts lie."

If you would like to make a monetary donation, all contributions can be made to The Red Cross of Faulkner County.

The Arkansas RimRockers, owned by Larry Crain Sr., play all home games in Alltel Arena. Tickets for RimRocker games can be purchased by calling 501-975-7575. The American Basketball Association season runs from November through March with playoffs beginning in April.

Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams.
