Arkansas RimRockers News Release
Little Rock, AR -- Before a crowd of 3516, the Arkansas RimRockers defeated the St. Louis Flight, 125-88. The RimRockers got off to a slow start, falling behind early in the first quarter, allowing the Flight eleven unanswered points.
George Gervin, Jr. came off the bench to end the RimRockers' scoring slump with an easy lay-up and his first career points as a RimRocker. Gervin continued to be the only RimRocker player to score for the next two minutes of the game until Daryan Selvy converted on an alley-oop from Kareem Reid to start the RimRockers back.
The difference in the game came from the RimRockers ability to convert 39 Flight turnovers into 40 points, while allowing their 19 turnovers to be converted into 15 points. The Flight dropped their field goal percentage in the second half from 44.2 to 356.4% while the RimRockers were able to improve theirs from 40.7 to 49.1%.
The RimRockers came out for the second half with fresh legs and clean shots. Shawson Johnson scored the first points of the second half as the RimRockers maintained a 10-point lead for most of the 3rd quarter before pulling away to a 91-75 lead at the end of the third quarter. The rest of the game was smooth sailing for the RimRockers as five RimRockers scored in double digits, with Kareem Reid leading the team with 28 points. Shawnson Johnson and Festus Hawkins each pulled down 9 rebounds and Brian Jackson had 4 blocked shots for the RimRockers. Next up for the RimRockers are the Nashville Rhythm, who remain undefeated for the season.
