May 31, 2018 - New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL)
Ocean State Waves News Release

With the NCAA tournament set to get underway tomorrow, here are this summer's Waves to keep an eye on:

In the Clemson Regional, No. 3 St. John's faces No. 2 Vanderbilt. RHP Joe Kelly and LHP Nick Mondak will both be competing for the Red Storm. Kelly appeared in a whopping 22 games as a junior, holding batters to an impressive.206 at the plate. Mondak didn't play this past season after making a single start during his freshman campaign. First pitch gets underway at noon.

In the DeLand Regional, No. 1 Stetson takes on No. 4 Hartford. RHP Ryan Stark will look to make an impact for the Hatters. Stark made six appearances this season on the mound, as an effective relief pitcher. The sophomore didn't allow an earned run in four of the six outings. That game gets started at 7pm.

And finally, in the Fayetteville Regional, No. 2 Southern Mississippi looks to get past No. 3 Dallas Baptist. Catcher Cole Donaldson and Outfielder Erick Hoard will each be donning a uniform for the Golden Eagles. Donaldson started an incredible 43 games behind the dish this season tallying a .244 average with a home run and 20 RBI. Meanwhile, Hoard saw 6 starts as a junior, notching eight hits including two homers and seven RBI. The contest begins at 8pm.

Updates to follow on each player's progress and the statuses of the teams. For now, the Ocean State Waves wishes St. John's, Stetson, and Southern Mississippi the best of luck in this year's tournament. Opening Day for the waves is Tuesday, June 5. Check out the website for ticket information.
