Riders Blanked in Series Finale by Arkansas

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Arkansas - The Frisco RoughRiders were shut out 3-0 in the final game of the three-game series by the Arkansas Travelers, who snapped their nine-game losing streak, from Dickey-Stephens Park on Sunday afternoon. Though the Riders fell on Sunday, they still won the series 2-1 and took the overall season series 11-7 over the Travelers.

The RoughRiders (11-10, 47-43) turned to Jack Leiter (2-8) to start the finale, who turned in 3.1 innings, allowing two runs while striking out two. Both runs that he allowed came in when reliever Grant Anderson entered the game in the fourth inning with two aboard, allowing both to score. The Travelers (8-13, 44-46) scored a total of three runs in the inning on RBI singles from Riley Unroe, Patrick Frick and Matt Scheffler.

In relief, Avery Weems fired four shutout innings with six strikeouts in a no-decision.

Taylor Dollard (9-2) threw six scoreless innings in his start to lower his Texas-League best ERA to 1.54. Michael Stryffeler also threw a scoreless ninth to earn his 14th save on the season.

The Riders were held to just four hits in the defeat and had just one baserunner reach second when Justin Foscue doubled in the ninth.

Following a day off on Monday, the Riders continue their nine-game road trip with a six-game series against the Springfield Cardinals, beginning with game one on Tuesday, July 26th at 6:35 p.m. from Hammons Field. Frisco will send LHP Cody Bradford (6-6, 5.93) to the hill against RHP Michael McGreevy (5-2, 3.98).
