Rick Nichols Appointed EVP and COO of Broomfield Sports and Entertainment

Broomfield, Colo. - Broomfield Sports and Entertainment today announced the appointment of Rick Nichols as Executive Vice President and COO of the Broomfield Event Center, Rocky Mountain Rage hockey team and Colorado 14ers basketball team. Nichols is leaving his own sports marketing agency, Admissions Sports Consulting, and previously was associated for over 11 years with the Denver Broncos Football Club, most recently as Vice President of Ticket Operations and Business Development.

"I can't say how thrilled I am to have Rick a part of the organization," said Tim Wiens, Principal, Broomfield Sports and Entertainment. "Rick has been representing the organization as a consultant for the event center for over two months now. John and I have been impressed with him and now would like to see him in a full time leadership role here."

The Broomfield Event Center will have welcomed approximately 250,000 fans through its doors in the first six months of operation and only aims to exceed that number in the coming seasons. Nichols' primary responsibilities will be to oversee the front office operations for the Rage, 14ers and the Broomfield Event Center. As a consultant, Nichols focused primarily on marketing and sales and will now expand his attention to build on the fan experience from driveway to driveway, making the entire trip to the BEC and the game experience as enjoyable as possible. Additionally, Nichols hopes to expand the reach of the teams and the BEC in all areas, but particularly service, sales and community interaction. With the BEC sports teams Nichols will work with the coaches to ensure that the front office is supporting the needs of the basketball and hockey operations respectively.

Nichols served as the Vice President of Marketing for Marketing Associates International of Kansas City, MO from 1993-95. MAI He was the managing officer on projects with the L. A. /St. Louis Rams, Denver Broncos, World League/NFL, Major League Baseball Properties, St. Louis NFL Partnership and the Kansas City NPSL team.

In 1991, Nichols served as Vice President and General Manager the National Indoor Lacrosse League and held the same title in 1992 for the Birmingham Fire of the World League/NFL. Nichols began his career with the NFL Houston Oilers in 1975 and was associated with the team for sixteen years, serving in various capacities, most notably Director of Administration for the Oilers, Vice President of Marketing for Sky Box Management and President of the Derrick Dolls team cheerleaders.
