Charleston 's Richter Named USL PRO Player of the Week

Charleston, SC. - USL PRO announced its Team of the Week for the third week of the 2012 season today, honoring Charleston Battery midfielder Ryan Richter as Player of the Week after his goal and strong performance helped propel the Battery to a 3-0 victory against the Charlotte Eagles on April 17.

Richter's goal was his first of the season and also his first as a professional soccer player.

Ryan Richter was drafted as the 5th overall pick in the 1st round of the 2011 MLS Supplemental Draft by Philadelphia Union but was subsequently loaned to the Harrisburg City Islanders of USL PRO and made his debut versus the Charleston Battery on June 4 in a game Harrisburg won 1-0.

A native of Southampton, PA Richter, 6-2, 175 lbs, 22 yrs attended La Salle University in Philadelphia, PA.

Andrew Dykstra loan to Charleston Battery extended until May 20

Goalkeeper Andrew Dykstra will remain on loan with the Charleston Battery from Major League Soccer's D.C. United until May 20, 2012. Dykstra started his loan spell prior to the Battery's April 14, 2-1 loss to the Richmond Kickers. Dykstra recorded a shutout in the Battery's following game, a 3-0 win on April 17 versus the Charlotte Eagles.

Dykstra spent the 2011 season with the Charleston Battery, starting each of the 16 matches he played for the Battery. The former Chicago Fire goalkeeper led USL PRO with a 0.98 goals-against average and 16 goals against.

A native of Woodbridge, Virginia, Dykstra, 6-4, 195 lbs., 25 yrs., played his college soccer at Virginia Commonwealth University.

Battery takes on Pittsburgh Friday night at Blackbaud Stadium
