Richmond Revolution Announce Signing Of Noland Burchette

RICHMOND, VA.: SportsQuest and the Richmond Revolution announced today that they have signed former Virginia Tech Hokie and Highland Springs standout *Noland Burchette* to a contract for the 2010 season.

Noland Burchette joins the Revolution after a 5 year career at Virginia Tech, and brief stints with the Indianapolis Colts and Atlanta Falcons. During his 5 seasons in Blacksburg, Burchette was a four year letterman, appearing in 51 total games. He totaled 137 tackles, 18.5 tackles for loss, and 10.5 sacks. During his redshirt Senior season Burchette totaled 44 tackles, 7.5 TFL, 3.5 sacks and 17 quarterback hurries, recovering 2 fumbles and forcing 1, all while scoring his first career touchdown in a 23-0 shutout victory over Toledo. As a Junior at Tech, Burchette accumulated 25 tackles, 4 for loss, 3 sacks and 18 Quarterback hurries, while adding a forced fumble and recovery.

In his third season with the team, as a redshirt Sophomore, Burchette had 27 tackles, 6 TFL, 3 sacks, 11 QB hurries, 1 fumble recovery and 2 forced fumbles. His Redshirt Freshman season came after he sat out the 2002 season as a true freshman, and it saw him play in all 13 games, totaling 41 tackles, 1 for loss, 1 sack, 9 QB hurries and 1 forced fumble.

Burchette joined Frank Beamer's Hokies team after a standout career at Highland Springs High School that saw him letter 3 times at defensive end as well as Tight End. He posted 21 tackles for loss and 12.5 sacks during his senior year, finishing with 61 total tackles, 21 QB hurries, 5 passes broken up, 4 forced fumbles and 2 recoveries. He also had 11 receptions for 175 yards and 3 touchdowns. Burchette also saw time in high school as an H-back, rushing for 225 yards and five Touchdowns, and at punter where he averaged 40.5 yards per punt. He also letter 2 seasons as a forward in basketball, and competed on the Highland Springs track team.

Burchette joins a defensive line for the Revolution that includes Lawrence "The Law" Lewis of Virginia Tech, Sherman Logan of the University of Richmond and newly signed lineman *Darius Leak*.

Leak, played at Morgan State after transferring from the University of Connecticut in 2005. He played professionally last season for the Wilkes Barre/Scranton Pioneers of the af2, totaling 43 tackles, 9.5 for loss, 6 sacks, 4 forced fumbles and 1 recovery for a touchdown.

*Training Camp to begin February 20th* The Revolution will begin training camp on Saturday February 20th. A media day will be announced shortly, and all media members are invited to join the team at their practice. The first game of the 2010 season is on March 6th in Bloomington, IL against the Bloomington Extreme, and the first home game is March 13th at 7:05 at the Arthur Ashe Center against the Chicago Slaughter.

SportsQuest's Richmond Revolution is a proud member of the Indoor Football League. SportsQuest is in the process of building a 250 acre multi-purpose, multi-sport campus in the Chesterfield area of Virginia. The campus is designed to host athletes of all skill levels, from recreational to Olympic training. Among their plans is the creation of an arena that will house hockey, basketball and indoor football. The arena will be up and running by 2011, but the expansion IFL franchise will begin play in 2010 at the Arthur Ashe Athletic Center.
