Richmond Raiders Open Preseason Practice
March 3, 2011 - Southern Indoor Football League (SIFL)
Richmond Raiders News Release
(Richmond)- The Richmond Raiders will open training camp March 5th to begin their second season as a franchise and first in the newly expanded Southern Indoor Football League (SIFL). The Raiders; led by Head Coach James Fuller will welcome 40 players on opening day including Dudley Award winners Bryan Randall, Vince Hall and Rodney Landers.
The new look Raiders have shared a little of the spotlight with their practice facility; the former Dove Street Armory; the home to several Virginia National Guard units since 1965. The State of Virginia closed the facility in 2009 and the deed reverted back to its original owner; the City of Richmond. ¬ÅThis place gives us an edge, very few indoor teams have this combination of playing surface, meeting rooms, offices and support areas. We are truly blessed ¬Â James Fuller - Head Coach
The Raiders open their home schedule with a March 11 preseason game against the Harrisburg Stampede at 7pm. It will be ¬ÅSuntrust High School Heroes Night ¬Â honoring educational excellence and the Times Dispatch All Metro Football team. The Raiders open their regular season March 19 against the Trenton Steel.
