GREEN BAY, Wisc. - Lumberjacks forward Jake Richard netted three points, including the game-winning goal as Muskegon cruised to victory over the Green Bay Gamblers by a final score of 3-to-2 on Sunday, April 10, 2022, from the Resch Center. Owen Mehnlenbacher, who departs the weekend with three goals, and Jake Braccini added other tallies for the Jacks, who put the final stamp in Green Bay on their pro-style, three-in-three road swing in three different cities. With the win, the Lumberjacks hold steady in third place in the Eastern Conference standings with an overall record of 30-22-3-3 and 66 points and a chance to clinch a playoff berth next weekend.

1st Period

For the third game in a row, the Lumberjacks scored first, this time from Owen Mehlenbacher, his third goal of the weekend, at 5:37 of the first period to give Muskegon the early 1-to-0 lead. Mehlenbacher's 15th goal of the season was assisted by Jake Richard.

After the first period of action in Green Bay, the Lumberjacks carried a 1-to-0 lead going into the first intermission.

2nd Period

Sixty-three seconds into the middle period, Jake Braccini doubled the Lumberjack lead to 2-to-0 while on the power play. Braccini's 24th goal of the season was assisted by Jake Richard to put Muskegon up by a deuce at 1:03.

After both sides had goals waved off by the officials, Muskegon remained in the driver's seat up 2-to-0 heading into the third period.

3rd Period

The Gamblers were finally able to solve Muskegon netminder Chase Clark 7:48 into the third period on a goal from Luke Weilandt to cut the deficit to 2-to-1. Weilandt's sixth goal of the season was helped by Sawer Scholl to put Green Bay within a goal.

At 11:37 of the third period, Green Bay's Owen Murray tied the game 2-to-2 to pull the score even. Murray's fifth goal of the season was assisted by John Driscoll and Matt DeBoer.

Just over two minutes later, Jake Richard restored the one-goal lead for Muskegon putting the Lumberjacks ahead 3-to-2. Richard's 14th goal of the season, and third point of the night, was assisted by Gavin McCarthy and Nathan McBrayer.

In the end, Muskegon was able to stave off Green Bay's attempt to even the game and the Lumberjacks earned two points en route to a 3-to-2 victory over the Gamblers to close out the three-in-three weekend.
