Rhode Island FC News Release
PAWTUCKET, R.I. - Rhode Island FC announced today it has signed midfielder Isaac Angking for the 2024 USL Championship season, pending league and federation approval. The Rhode Island native becomes the 24th all-time acquisition for RIFC.
"Isaac is a talented midfielder and we're excited to integrate him into our team," said Rhode Island FC Head Coach and General Manager Khano Smith. "With international, USL and MLS experience, Isaac brings creativity and a good passing range. We couldn't be happier to sign another local player from Rhode Island."
Growing up in Providence, Angking's early career started to take off while playing for Bayside FC, the same former youth club as Rhode Island FC co-founder Michael Parkhurst and current RIFC midfielder Kevin Vang. After four seasons with the New England Revolution Academy, Angking became the second-youngest Homegrown Player signing for the club on January 2, 2018. At the youth level, Angking was called into numerous U.S. Soccer camps and tournaments from Under-13 to Under-20. At the senior level, Angking represents Puerto Rico and made his international debut on January 19, 2021. Angking has scored four goals in seven appearances for Los Boricuas.
The 24-year-old brings three goals and three assists across thirty-six professional appearances. Angking most recently played for Columbus Crew 2, where the midfielder made 19 appearances and logged 1048 minutes en route to the 2022 MLS Next Pro Cup final. Prior to joining Columbus Crew 2, Angking scored twice in eight appearances for New England Revolution II in 2020 and added one assist in five matches while on loan with Charlotte Independence during the 2019 USL Championship season. In his rookie season with New England, Angking made four MLS appearances including his professional debut on September 5, 2018 against New York City FC.
