December 1, 2023 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
Rhode Island FC News Release
PAWTUCKET, RI - Rhode Island FC, the Ocean State's new professional men's soccer team, announced today that former Liberian National Team member Prince Saydee is the latest player to join the Rhode Island FC roster. Saydee began his professional journey at 17 with Barrack Young Controllers FC in Liberia, showcasing his skills with 23 goals in 47 matches. In 2013, Saydee made his national team debut, representing Liberia in World Cup qualifying matches.
Since 2019, Saydee has played with several USL Championship clubs, including Miami FC, Phoenix Rising, and - most recently - Hartford Athletic. While playing for Hartford last season, he scored 14 goals.
"As we prepare for our inaugural season, we continue to prioritize building a roster that has players with the skill and USL Championship experience to help us compete in a very tough league. Prince will contribute to our team from day one and will bring valuable league experience to our team," said Khano Smith, head coach and general manager of Rhode Island FC.
"I am incredibly excited to wear the Rhode Island FC crest and to represent a team that is committed to being a team for all Rhode Island. I am already looking forward to our first practice. Thank you to Coach Smith for this wonderful opportunity," said Prince Saydee, Rhode Island FC.
Rhode Island FC will make its USL Championship debut in early March 2024 and will play its home matches during its inaugural season at Beirne Stadium at Bryant University while the state-of-the-art stadium at Tidewater Landing is completed. Like all transactions in the USL Championship, Saydee's signing will be finalized pending league and federation approval.
