Rhode Island FC News Release
Rhode Island FC proudly took part in the 48th Annual Meeting Street Telethon Saturday, joining community members across the state working together to raise money for the non-profit organization dedicated to bringing hope and possibility to families of children with profound special needs. The three-hour live broadcast telethon from Meeting Street's headquarters in Providence started at 7 p.m. on WPRI and finished with a bang as confetti fell from the ceiling as the final fundraising amount was presented: $632,126.
Taking a turn to answer the phone banks was RIFC President Brett Luy, Chief Marketing Officer Sabine Feldmann and the event's most popular guest, Chip.
"There's no greater importance than connecting with and supporting the Rhode Island community," said Rhode Island FC president Brett Luy. "Meeting Street is an inspiring institution filled with heartwarming stories. It was extremely humbling and no surprise to see the generosity from so many donors help exceed the night's fundraising goals."
Telethon attendees enjoyed activities in the Meeting Street gym, took part in online auction items, interacted with Meeting Street children and families and made sure to snap a photo with their favorite team mascot.
As the largest annual fundraiser for Meeting Street, the telethon helps aid the organization's mission of compassionately and innovatively empowering children and their families to thrive by fostering the development of the whole child. The event generates critical operating support for Meeting Street's programs that serve thousands of children of all abilities and their families, across Rhode Island and Massachusetts.
Stories of hope and success were featured throughout the live fundraising event.
