Rhinos Move on in U.S. Open Cup

Rochester, NY - After defeating Southie FC Wednesday night in the Second Round of the Lamar Hunt U.S Open Cup, the Rochester Rhinos are moving on to the Third Round. In honor of the team's victory and to celebrate the success so far this season, the Rhinos are holding a "Fan Appreciation Celebration" for their third round match being held on June 1, at 7:00 p.m. at Rochester Rhinos Stadium.

All seats for the third round match will be complementary, plus there will be featured food and beverage specials all game long. With many new and exciting changes to the stadium, plus with the enhanced overall fan experience, the event gives soccer fans of all kinds the opportunity to visit the stadium and see the excitement first hand. New changes this season include concession stands, new state of the art field turf and a brand new scoreboard. Plus, new premium seating options have been introduced such as field level seats, VIP Club and the Golden Rhinos section.

The Rhinos are using this opportunity to thank fans for all their support early in the season, and encouraging those who have not yet visit the new and improved stadium to attend. Additional new stadium additions and improvements will continue to be introduced during the season.

The Rhinos are no stranger to the Cup, as they are the only non MLS team to win the cup since the MLS originated in 1996. Seventeen years ago the Rochester Rhinos were victorious underdogs that beat four straight MLS teams to win the U.S Open Cup in 1999. The Rhinos hold a record of 10-15 against MLS teams in the U.S Open Cup. They are consistent contenders, making it as far as the semifinals in 2009. As defending league champions, the team looks to further their success this season with a strong Open Cup showing.
