Rio Grande Valley FC Toros News Release
EDINBURG, Texas - Rio Grande Valley FC (7-3-3, 24 pts.) will host Austin Bold FC (5-3-4, 19 pts.) on Saturday, July 24 with kickoff set at 8 p.m. CST.
To support the RGV deep-rooted love for local sports, Reliant presents RGV FC Toros "Whiteout" night beginning at 6 p.m. to kick off with Live Oak Texas Vodka White Party. The all-white party will feature a photobooth, vodka tasting, special drink offers and live music from STRGHTFWRD. The first 1,000 fans will receive a white Toros t-shirt, powered by Reliant.
Last time the Toros hosted the Bold at home, Austin struck a late game-winner to defeat the home team 2-1. Austin Bold is the only Texas team that RGV hasn't been able to defeat this season, setting the home record between both clubs at 1-3-0.
RGV FC: The Toros have managed to maintain the first-place spot of the Mountain Division, tied with El Paso Locomotive and has held a three-game undefeated streak. Juan Carlos Azocar has been a player to watch for lately due his style of aggressiveness, creativity and being able to capitalize on the opportunities that arise. In the last three games, Azocar has been able to score twice and dished out an assist. Kyle Edwards made its return to the Toros squad as he was able to see a couple minutes last Saturday against Orange County SC. With Tyler Deric collecting his fourth clean sheet of the season, he will look to continue to keep any goals from being scored by the Bold's team. Last time RGV FC played at home was nearly a month ago after a 3-2 win over El Paso.
ATX: The Bold stand at fourth in the Mountain Division with a four-game undefeated streak. Austin earned a 1-0 win over Real Monarchs SLC with a lone goal by Juan Torres. Sean Okoli leads the group with three total goals and 18 total shots while being able to create eight chances and has won 44 aerial duels. Xavier Baez leads with 16 created chances while Owayne Omar Gordon has contributed two assists. Elliot Panicco has totaled 16 saves in 10 appearances while keeping six cleans sheets and only conceding four goals. Gustavo Rissi leads defensively with 53 clearances, 19 interceptions, nine aerial duels won and four blocks. Fabien Garcia falls right below with 42 clearances, 23 interceptions, 22 aerial duels won, 16 tackles and six blocks. Austin has scored a total of 12 goals while conceding 10 in 12 games played.
