
RGV FC Fall to New Mexico

ALBURQUEQUE, New Mexico - Rio Grande Valley FC (9-10-7; 34 pts.) fall 0-2 to New Mexico United (10-8-7; 37 pts.) on Wednesday night at Isotopes Park.
The Toros kicked of the first half with a dominant offense. However, in the 18th minute New Mexico's Saalih Muhammad slipped through the Toros defense and scored the first goal of the match with a header pass from teammate David Najem. Muhammad received the pass to his right foot and shot straight into the left side of the goal to give New Mexico a 1-0 lead.
In the 33rd minute of the game RGV FC created an opportunity off of a corner kick. Andrés Flores received the corner with a header which was then sent to Elvis Amoh. Amoh took his shot but was deflected by New Mexico's goalie Alex Tambakis. In the 40th minute Amoh struck once again as he attempted to head the ball into the goal but was stopped by Tambakis.
In the 76th minute James Murphy sent a dangerous free kick shot towards the goal, but the shot went long over the goal. Three minutes later Frank Lopez took a right footed shot from the center of the box towards the goal but was stopped. Despite the long hard-fought battle by RGV FC the team fell 0-2 late in the second half.
RGV led the night with 16 total shots, seven on target while New Mexico totaled eight shots, two on target.
Amoh ended the night with six shots, two on target and two created opportunities. Meanwhile Lopez also had six shots, three on target. Murphy led the team with three created chances.
