EDINBURG, Texas - Rio Grande Valley FC (6-6-9) defeated EL Paso Locomotive (9-7-5) at H-E-B Park with a 5-goal spread; Taylor Davila, Wilmer Andres Cabrera, and Jose Torres were the scorers of the night.
The opening half saw both teams test the waters in the attacking thirds as they managed some creativity up front. Taylor Davila played the hero role and managed to score two goals and gave RGV FC the 3-2 lead at the first half break.
El Paso Locomotive managed to challenge RGV FC's defense in the early goings of the first half. El Paso Locomotive found early success as Luis Solignac scored a penalty goal and Josue Gomez snuck one past Tyler Deric on a clever touch from Ricardo Zicarias at midfield.
Late into the first half, El Paso Locomotive scored an own goal from a RGV FC corner kick. This set piece created momentum for RGV FC going into the second half.
To begin the second half, Wilmer Andres Cabrera managed to score with an assist from Juan Galindrez. Jose Torres capped off the night with a successful penalty kick at the 73rd minute locking up a victory of 5-2.
Galindrez got the first start as a RGV FC Toro finishing the night with two assists. Meanwhile Taylor Davila locked in his fifth goal of the season for RGV FC.
