Rex Pound Bombers 12-6; Bombers' Magic Number Remains 2

Dubois County Bombers News Release


The Terre Haute Rex scored early and often as they knocked off the Dubois County Bombers 12-6 at Bob Warn Field at Sycamore Stadium in Terre Haute, Ind.

The Rex treated supported their starter William Robinson with a four-run third, a five-run fourth and a two-run fifth.

Nick Johnson had four runs-batted-in to lead the Rex, who also had Michael Schroeder knock in three.

For the Bombers, Chris Tavares led the way with three RBI.

Robinson earned the win with six scoreless innings, balancing four hits and a walk with five strikeouts.

His replacement, Ben Dartnell, pitched the next two innings. He allowed five of the first six batters he faced to reach (two hits and three walks) as the Bombers scored five in the seventh, although only three were earned.

Josh Dove then came on to pitch the ninth. Dubois County scored one unearned run against him.

Dubois County starter Spencer Sapp lasted only three and two-thirds innings as he allowed eight runs on seven hits, three walks and only one strikeout.

He was replaced by Kurt Kudrecki, who pitched the final four and a third and gave up four runs on seven hits and three walks while striking out five.

Terre Haute improved to 14-11 and continued to occupy second place in the Western Division while Dubois County fell to 18-7 but remained in first. The teams play again Wednesday night at 7:15 at League Stadium in Huntingburg, Ind.
