Rex Baseball Sold to Local Investors

Terre Haute REX baseball will return to action this summer.

The Indiana State University Foundation announced today that the Terre Haute REX franchise has been sold to a local ownership consortium, the Wabash Valley Baseball, LLC.

"We have been in conversation with this group for several months, and our hard work has finally paid off," said Ron Carpenter, president of the ISU Foundation.

The REX began in 2010 as an investment strategy for the foundation, with the long term vision of selling the team to other investors. The selling price of the REX to the Wabash Valley Baseball, LLC was nearly double the foundation's initial cost to buy into the Prospect League.

"It has always been our goal to make sure that the REX remain a point of pride for the Wabash Valley, and with this group's support and guidance, it will be," said Carpenter.

Investors involved in the Wabash Valley Baseball, LLC are Brian Dorsett, Bob Brown, Kevin Hoolehan, Ray Kepner, Bruce Rosselli, and John Newton. All backers have significant ties to Terre Haute.

Under the foundation's ownership the team earned a 133-98 record and reached the Prospect League's post season twice. The REX also averaged more than 27,000 fans per season and attracted support from a variety of local businesses.

"REX baseball is a good thing for the community, and we were glad to help bring back and maintain summer baseball in Terre Haute for the past four years," said Carpenter. "We are thrilled that the REX will again take the field at Indiana State's Bob Warn Field this summer."
