Rewind: Reviewing Friday's Action in the USHL

Waterloo 4, Des Moines 1

Waterloo scored the first three goals of the game and didn't look back in claiming a 4-1 win at Des Moines.

Griffin Erdman and Gavin Lindberg scored first-period goals and when Gavyn Thoreson tallied in the second, the Black Hawks held a 3-0 lead after 40 minutes of action.

Aiden Van Rooyan responded for the Buccaneers early in the third, but an empty netter from Myles Hilman at 17:55 sealed the deal for Waterloo.

Calvin Vachon and Jack Spicer combined to stop 19 of 20 shots for Waterloo and the win is the seventh in the last 10 games for the surging Black Hawks.

Tri-City 5, Chicago 4 shootout

Tri-City and Chicago traded leads three times before the visiting Storm went on to claim the 5-4 victory in shootout fashion.

Vsevolog Logvin and Trevor Connelly opened the scoring for the Storm before Charlie Major and Kolin Sisson replied for the Steel and at the end of the first, the score stood 2-2.

Michael Emerson gave Chicago a 3-2 lead at 5:19 of the second. Blake Steenerson tied it for the Storm four minutes later, but after Joey DelGreco scored at 12:11, the Steel owned a one-goal lead heading into the final stanza.

Artemi Nizameyev's power play marker at 13:11 of the third sent the game into a scoreless overtime.

Shootout goals from Logvin and Cameron Briere and two saves from Cam Korpi lifted Tri-City to its fourth win in the last five games.

Fargo 4, Omaha 2

Fargo put 51 shots on goal and scored the last three goals of the game in pulling away for a 4-2 home win over Omaha Friday.

Iiro Hakkarainen got the ball rolling for the league-leading Force with his 14th goal of the season coming at the 2:24 mark of the second. Omaha took the lead when David Deputy and Camron VanSickle sandwiched goals three minutes apart mid-way through period. Reid Daavettila scored right before the end of the period for Fargo and the game stood tied 2-2 after 40 minutes of play.

Mac Swanson gave Fargo the lead with his 17th goal of the season coming shortly after the puck was dropped to begin the third period. Gavin Morrissey's empty-netter closed out the scoring in the game.

Mikhail Yegorov stopped a career-high 47 shots for Omaha. Hampton Slukynsky, who had 18 saves for the Force, upped his record on the season to 19-1-0-0 with the win.

The Force, who have now won their last six games, lead the USHL with a 35-5-2-0 record.

Lincoln 4, Sioux City 2

Lincoln outshot Sioux City by a 41-32 margin and scored three third-period goals in skating to a 4-2 home win Friday.

Tate Pritchard's highlight-reel goal in the first period gave the visiting Musketeers an early 1-0 lead.

Ryan Spinale knotted things up when he scored at 4:44 of the second, but Sioux City held a 2-1 lead after Justin Stupka tallied at 6:09.

The Stars who have now won five games in a row, evened it on Blake Montgomery's 15th goal of the season, which came at the 6:37 mark of the third. Juan Copeland's power-play marker put the Stars up for the first time when he scored at 15:08 and Montgomery's second of the game, scored into an empty net at 19:59, closed out the win for Lincoln.

Madison 5, Youngstown 4

Jack Brandt scored twice and got the game-winning goal as Madison pulled out a 5-4 win over Youngstown Friday.

Grant Young scored at 12:15 of the first for the Phantoms and after Austin Burnevik replied for Madison on the power play at 19:36, the two teams stood tied 1-1 at the end of the first.

Brandt put the Capitals up at 1:59 of the second, and after Zach Morin evened the score for Youngstown at 7:12, goals from Chris Delaney and Shawn Ramsey made it a 4-2 Madison advantage after 40 minutes of action.

Brandt's second of the game, which came on the power play at 2:59, made it a three-goal lead. Evan Jardine and Andrew Strathman scored goals for the Phantoms in the final 10 minutes of the contest to close out scoring in the game as the Caps held on for the one-goal victory.

Carsen Musser stopped 31 of 35 shots to pick up the win for the Caps.

Dubuque 6, Cedar Rapids 3

Dubuque fell behind early in the game, but responded with four straight goals in coming away with a 6-3 home win over Cedar Rapids.

Ben Muthersbaugh redirected Colin Grable's blast from the point to give the RoughRiders a 1-0 first-period lead, but Jake Sondreal and Colin Frank responded at 10:08 and 15:49, respectively and by the end of the first the Fighting Saints held a 2-1 advantage.

Noah Powell's power play marker was the only goal of the second period and when Sondreal scored his 20th of the season early in the third, it was a 4-1 Dubuque lead. Isaac Johnson pulled the RoughRiders within two when he scored at 6:41, but when Charlie Arend and Fisher Scott tallied goals at 9:45 and 12:45, it became a 6-2 Fighting Saints lead. Jack Larrigan scored at 13:59 for Cedar Rapids for the final goal of the game.

Dubuque, which has won five of its last seven games, stands atop the Eastern Conference standings with a 27-9-3-3 record.

Green Bay 5, Sioux Falls 4

Green Bay scored the last two goals of the game enroute to a 5-4 road win at Sioux Falls.

The host Stampede struck first when J.J. Wiebusch scored midway through the opening period, but after Charlie Russell tallied at 15:33 and Lev Katzin at 19:08, the Gamblers held a one-goal lead at the end of the first 20 minutes of play.

Wiebusch brought the Stampede even at 9:04 of the second and when Will McDonough tallied at 16:34, Sioux Falls led 3-2 by the end of the second.

Jayson Shaugabay made it 3-3 at 1:55, but Beckett Hendrikson's power play goal at 4:46 put Sioux Falls up by a goal. Ryan Humphrey tied it at 11:26 and Mikey DeAngelo got the game-winner when he scored five minutes later.

Adam Gajan stopped 30 of 34 shots to pick up the win for the Gamblers.
