Revolution Unable to Find Rhythm in Green Bay
April 28, 2013 - Indoor Football League (IFL)
Texas Revolution News Release
The Texas Revolution (3-5) opened the game by kicking off to Green Bay Blizzard's (3-5) B.J. Hill, who promptly returned the kick 54 yards for the touchdown. Hill broke the Indoor Football League's record for most kick return touchdowns in a career with 12, but also broke the Revolution's game plan putting them in an early hole.
On the Revolution's first offensive drive, a successful fourth down conversion would be forgotten as the Revs fumbled on the ensuing play. Green Bay marched down for another score.
The Revolution defense was not able to get the stops that they needed in that first half, giving up five touchdowns and two field goals before the intermission.
The offense in the first half was held to 48 total yards, but was able to score touchdowns on a Marcus Jackson (13-26, 88 yards, 2 TD, 2 INT, 1 Rushing TD) QB sneak and a Keith Smith (2 Rec, 27 yards, 1 TD) receiving touchdown. Smith, who was originally wrapped up before the endzone, was picked up by center Chris Thompson and carried into the endzone for the score. Despite that impressive play, the Revolution found themselves trailing 17-48 at the half.
The second half was not much better for the Revolution, who ended up scoring just eight points, on a touchdown reception by R.J. Jackson (2 Rec, 5 yards, 1 TD), but were still not able to get the big stops against the Blizzard offense.
One bright spot for the Revolution was Frankie Solomon Jr.'s 205 yards on kickoff returns.
The final score was Revolution 25, Blizzard 74.
The Revolution return to the Allen Event Center on Friday May 3rd to face the Chicago Blizzard. It is Scout Night, so be sure to visit TexasRevs.com or call 972-422-7277 to receive more information.
