New England Revolution News Release
FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - After opening SuperLiga 2008 with a 1-0 victory over current Mexican champion Santos Laguna on Sunday night at Gillette Stadium, the New England Revolution will train in Foxborough once this week in preparation for the club's two remaining SuperLiga Group B matches. The Revs will first host Mexican power Pachuca at 8 p.m. ET on Wednesday, July 16, at Gillette Stadium, before traveling to Southern California to close out group play with an all-MLS showdown with Chivas USA at 8 p.m. ET on Sunday, July 20, at Cal State Fullerton's Titan Stadium.
The Revs will train on the Lower Practice Field at Gillette Stadium on Tuesday, with the session scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. Following the midweek match against Pachuca, the club will travel to California on Friday before training on the stadium field at Cal State Fullerton's Titan Stadium on Saturday at 3 p.m. PT. A full schedule for the week is below.
Media wishing to attend any session held on the Gillette Stadium grounds must notify the Revolution Communications office by the close of business the day before to RSVP and guarantee admittance. Media availability usually begins at approximately 11:15 a.m. for 10 a.m. sessions.

NEW ENGLAND VS. CHIVAS USA SERIES INFORMATION
* New England leads the all-time, MLS regular-season series with Chivas USA, 3-2-2 ... the Revs are 1-2-1 in road matches against the Goats, while they're 2-0-1 at Gillette Stadium. * This will be the first-ever meeting between the two teams outside of MLS regular-season action, while it will also be the first time that the clubs have squared off at Cal State Fullerton's Titan Stadium. * The Revs and the Goats met in a regular-season match on May 11 at The Home Depot Center, with New England earning a 2-1 victory ... the match marked the first time in the series history that the visiting team won. * In the teams' previous meeting this season on May 11, the Revolution began the match in an unconventional 3-4-2-1 formation, using Steve Ralston and Mauricio Castro as attacking midfielders and Kenny Mansally as a lone forward. * Chivas USA won the regular-season series against the Revolution for the first time in 2007, 1-0-1 ... the Goats claimed a 2-0 victory at The Home Depot Center on June 30 before earning a 1-1 draw at Gillette Stadium just one week later (July 7). * The clubs tied the regular-season series in Chivas USA's expansion season of 2005 (1-1-0), while New England won the 2006 series (1-0-1).
PLAYER NOTES VS. CHIVAS USA
* Taylor Twellman leads the Revolution in goals (3), shots (19), shots on goal (7) and fouls suffered (11) against Chivas USA ... Twellman made his 2008 season debut at Chivas USA on May 11, entering at halftime and scoring the game-winning goal in the 59th minute. * Kenny Mansally scored his second career goal on May 11 at Chivas USA. * Shalrie Joseph is the only other current Rev to have scored a goal against the Goats ... he has also added one assist. * Steve Ralston leads the Revolution in assists (3) against Chivas USA ... Chris Albright has also recorded two assists against the Goats, both of which came during his time with the L.A. Galaxy. * Jay Heaps, Michael Parkhurst and Matt Reis have each played every minute of every game against Chivas USA in the seven-game, regular-season series. * Matt Reis has maintained a 1.00 goals against average in seven games against Chivas USA, which is tied for his third-lowest goals against average against any MLS team ... Reis is 3-2-2 with one shutout against the Goats.
LAST MEETING New England 2, Chivas USA 1 May 11, 2008 - The Home Depot Center (Carson, Calif.) Second-half substitute Taylor Twellman - who was making his 2008 season debut after returning from knee surgery - scored the game-winning goal in the 59th minute to lead the Revs to their first-ever road victory over Chivas USA ... Kenny Mansally - playing as a lone forward in front of attacking midfielders Steve Ralston and Mauricio Castro - opened the scoring with his second goal of the season in the 18th minute ... the 19-year-old Gambian ran onto Jeff Larentowicz's long ball over the top of the Goats' defense and slotted a left-footed shot past onrushing goalkeeper Brad Guzan ... Twellman replaced Mansally at halftime and made an immediate impact, scoring his first goal of the season in the 59th minute ... a one-two combination with Ralston sent Twellman in alone on Guzan, and the Revs' all-time leading scorer sent a shot back across his body and inside the right post ... Chivas USA grabbed a consolation goal deep into stoppage time, as Maykel Galindo rounded Revs' goalkeeper Matt Reis and centered a pass to Justin Braun, who finished past a trio of backtracking defenders.

REVS OPEN SUPERLIGA WITH WIN OVER SANTOS ... Forward Kheli Dube scored the game's only goal in the 70th minute and goalkeeper Matt Reis made two saves to secure the shutout, as the Revolution defeated reigning Mexican champion Santos Laguna, 1-0, in the SuperLiga 2008 Group B opener on Sunday night at Gillette Stadium ... Sainey Nyassi set up the goal, stealing the ball off a Santos midfielder and bursting down the right side towards the near post before laying the ball back towards the penalty spot ... Steve Ralston flicked the ball on with a back-heel before Dube buried his shot inside the left post ... the Revs played the final 50 minutes with a man-advantage following the ejection of Santos midfielder Juan Pablo Rodriguez, who was sent off in the 40th minute for an elbow to the face of Nyassi.
... TO SET UP BATTLE FOR THE GROUP B LEAD WITH PACHUCA With their win over Santos, the Revs (1-0-0, 3 pts.) moved to the top of SuperLiga's Group B along with their next opponent, Pachuca, which defeated Chivas USA, 2-1, at The Home Depot Center late Sunday night ... Pachuca - the reigning SuperLiga and CONCACAF Champions Cup champion - will arrive in Boston late Monday night in preparation for Wednesday night's showdown at Gillette Stadium ... the match is scheduled for an 8 p.m. kickoff and will be televised nationally in Spanish on Telefutura, while streaming video of the match will be available in both English and Spanish on mlsnet.com and superliga2008.com ... ESPN Deportes Radio will carry the game nationally in Spanish, while local listeners can tune in to the WEEI Radio Network for English audio.
TRIO OF REVS NAMED TO MLS ALL-STAR FIRST XI On July 10, Major League Soccer announced that Matt Reis, Michael Parkhurst and Shalrie Joseph were voted as First XI All-Stars for the 2008 Pepsi MLS All-Star game against West Ham United, which will take place on July 24 at Toronto's BMO Field ... the teams were selected based on voting by fans (25 percent), coaches and general managers (25 percent), players (25 percent) and media (25 percent) ... for the second consecutive year, the Revs placed the most players (3) in the MLS First XI All-Stars, as Reis, Parkhurst and Joseph were all First XI All-Stars last year ... the selection marks Reis' fourth consecutive All-Star nod, and his second First XI selection ... Parkhurst will be appearing in his third consecutive All-Star game, while Joseph is now a five-time All-Star and three-time First XI selection ... the First XI is not necessarily the All-Star game's starting 11, as All-Star and Revolution head coach Steve Nicol will select the starters based on player availability and tactical consideration.
REVS ADVANCE TO U.S. OPEN CUP SEMIFINALS ... Goalkeeper Doug Warren made the only save of the penalty shootout to lead the Revs past USL-2 side Crystal Palace Baltimore, 5-3 on penalty kicks, after the teams drew, 1-1, after 120 minutes of play through regulation and extra time at Veterans Stadium in New Britain, Conn., last Tuesday night (July 8) ... Kenny Mansally put the Revs ahead in just the sixth minute, rounding the goalkeeper and slotting his shot into an empty net after Brandon Tyler had played him through ... Baltimore's Dan Lader equalized in the 20th minute, finishing through a maze of players after a goalmouth scramble ... all five Revs who shot converted their penalty kick attempts, including Mauricio Castro, who secured the win with a deft chip following Warren's save of Val Teixeira's attempt.
... AND WILL VISIT D.C. UNITED AT RFK STADIUM The Revs will continue defense of their 2007 U.S. Open Cup title when they travel to face D.C. United in a semifinal match at RFK Stadium on Tuesday, Aug. 12 ... kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ... D.C., which is the only other remaining MLS team in the U.S. Open Cup, advanced to the semifinal round courtesy of a 2-1, extra-time victory over the Chicago Fire at the Maryland SoccerPlex on Tuesday night (July 8) ... Brian Namoff scored the game-winner in the 99th minute after Francis Doe scored in the 77th minute to force extra time.
MANZONELLI EARNS FIRST CAP WITH U.S. UNDER-20 TEAM IN 3-0 WIN OVER MEXICO Brandon Manzonelli made his first appearance for the United States Under-20 Men's National Team on Friday, July 11, as he the midfielder started in the U.S.' 3-0 victory over Mexico in Laredo, Texas ... the 18-year-old had an eventful debut for the U.S. U20s, earning two assists in the first half before being red-carded in the 66th minute ... a corner kick from Manzonelli led to the first U.S. goal, as his service bounced around the box before being driven into the net by defender Sheanon Williams in the 25th minute ... just before the halftime break, another corner kick by the Revs' midfielder slipped through the box to Peri Marosevic, who finished from close range ... a scuffle between Manzonelli and Mexico's Moises Velazco led to both being ejected in the 66th minute, while Mexico had another player sent off in the 72nd minute ... Manzonelli, who was signed by New England on May 22 following a brief trial, made his professional debut on July 1 in the Revolution's U.S. Open Cup match against Richmond, but has not appeared in an MLS contest ... he has recorded one goal in four starts in the reserve division.
DEFENDER CHASE HILGENBRINCK RETIRES FROM SOCCER On Monday, July 14, the Revolution announced that defender Chase Hilgenbrinck has decided to leave the club and retire from soccer to enter a Catholic seminary in Maryland to prepare for a new career in the ministry ... Hilgenbrinck, 26, signed with the Revs on March 28, 2008 following a four-year career in Chile ... he made four appearances in MLS first-team matches, including one start ... a native of Bloomington, Ill., he also started the Revs' two U.S. Open Cup victories this month ... additionally, he started all six of the reserve team's games for which he was available, captaining the team twice.
FORWARD KHELI DUBE PROMOTED TO SENIOR ROSTER The Revolution announced on Monday, July 14 that MLS rookie of the year candidate Kheli Dube has been promoted to the team's 18-man senior roster ... Dube, 25, has appeared in 18 total games this season, including 16 appearances in MLS regular-season games ... in all competitions, he has made 10 starts, scoring five goals and adding three assists to help lift the Revs into first place in all of Major League Soccer with a 10-4-3 record (33 pts.) ... among his goals was the game-winning strike against current Mexican champion Santos Laguna in Sunday's 1-0 victory in the team's SuperLiga 2008 opener.
