Tulsa Revolution News Release
The Mexican National Indoor Soccer team (Mexican National Futbol Rapid) proved to be too powerful for the Tulsa Revolution, as the Mexican team outscored the Revolution, 11-3, in an exhibition match Saturday night at the Cox Business Center in Tulsa. The Revolution is a member of the Major Arena Soccer League, while the Mexican team is touring the United States playing matches against various teams in order to prepare for the Indoor Soccer World Cup, to be played next March.
Mexico took a 2-0 lead in the first quarter, then went up 5-0 in the second quarter before the Revolution got on the board with a goal from Christian Mata at 13:55 of the quarter. Mexico answered with a goal by Ignacio Carrazco to take a comfortable 6-1 lead into halftime.
Mexico added two more goals in the third quarter and led 8-3 heading into the fourth. Tulsa looked to stage a rally with a pair of goals by Michael Poneys and Mohammed Shaban early in the fourth quarter, however, the Mexican team put the match out of reach with three more goals before time expired.
Next up for the Revolution; Tulsa will open the MASL season in Wichita on Saturday, Nov. 8 with a 7:05 kickoff against the B-52s, then the Revolution will host Oxford City FC of Texas on Nov. 14 at 7:05 p.m. at the Cox Business Center.
